Fiasco: Fawn Penn
Fawn Penn researches medical and architectural history to memorialize remnants into clay reliquaries. Continuing with their lexicon of graphic motifs, this collection of new works brings a cast of animal sigils to the wrought ceramic surface. These figures contort to their frames, right angles dissolving into abstracted geometric patterns mirroring the clay canvas’ edge. The corrosive iron glaze sinks deep into geological surface, a modern stone tablet relief. As a collection, Penn’s work builds an architectural language of pattern and symbol, interspersed with characters translated into glyphic form.
