Jacob Rochester
Biography
Jacob Rochester, who lives and works in Los Angeles, draws from his Afro-Caribbean heritage and Jamaican roots to create portraits that explore memory, family, and shared history. His work reflects the warmth and intimacy of familiar moments, rendered in a style reminiscent of pre-digital photography, when images revealed themselves through film. With recent collaborations for Nike, Apple, the NBA, Herman Miller, and Sabrina Carpenter, and exhibitions at Jeffrey Deitch, Art Paris Fair, Galerie Marguo, and Anthony Gallery, Rochester continues to merge the visual rhythms of music, design, and painting into poetic compositions that honor the beauty and complexity of Black life across eras and geographies.
