A Very Serious Gallery is thrilled to announce David Ellis’ first major exhibition, “Therapeutic Reasoning”.
This body of work is a diary of sorts, consisting of 5 paintings and 50 works on paper, depicting the people who enter his life, celebrities, or random passing thoughts. Creating these works are at the core of an ongoing healing & therapeutic journey.
“Three years ago, painting was merely a bullet point on a safety plan my crisis therapist recommended while struggling with active suicidal ideation. Now I’m here. This body of work is an homage to my origins as an artist, highlighting the need to create for emotional/psychological centering. The thought doesn’t need to be complete, or the concepts don’t have to be deep. The healing nature of creating is all I’ve ever needed.” -David Ellis
