Pamela Johnson
Biography
Pamela Michelle Johnson is a Chicago-based artist whose work examines contemporary culture through richly detailed still-life paintings. Originally from California, she earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering with an art minor from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, before transitioning from a career in engineering to pursue art full-time. A formative residency at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Japan deeply influenced her artistic direction and commitment to material exploration. Since relocating to Chicago, Johnson has become part of the city’s vibrant artist community, exhibiting her American Still-Life series in galleries and museums across the U.S. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, The Artist’s Magazine, PBS’s Art21 blog, and Juxtapoz.
